Tarrant County has evolved from its humble origins into a modern-day community of Western hospitality and huge corporate industry. Encompassing 898 square miles of gently sloping terrain and the Trinity River, the county’s topography is diverse and beautiful. Natural timbers and prairie clay make Tarrant County a natural wonder. Outdoor enthusiasts will delight in hiking, fishing or boating at Eagle Mountain Lake and nearby Lake Worth. Spotted bass, white bass, and flathead catfish proliferate in its teeming waters.

History enthusiasts are greatly rewarded with tales both true and tall from a ghostly era. General Edward H. Tarrant ordered a military outpost built near Village Creek in north central Texas in 1841. By 1845, the area was being settled by the Peter’s Colony. A new military outpost was constructed nearby in 1849 by Major Ripley Arnold – an outpost that he named Fort Worth. Fort Worth has since developed into a major metropolis that offers big-city amenities to the residents of Haslet and the Eagle Mountain Lake area.
